IMA® Century Scholarship 2023-2024 Award

Call for Submissions

IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) Century Scholarship will recognize up to two active IMA student members where volunteerism has been part of their journey and who are passionate not only about his/her business career, but also about being a leader in the management accounting profession.  This scholarship is available to undergraduate senior students or graduate students in the accounting or related field in the upcoming academic year.  The recipients will receive an award of $7,500 as well as a CMA scholarship.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be an active IMA student member of an Endorsed College or University and/or an official member of an active IMA Student Chapter (on the official roster).
  • Full-time or part-time student taking at least six credits with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 is required among all institutions attended throughout the applicant’s academic career. (US GPA or equivalent outside of United States).
  • Applicant must be a current student who is an undergraduate senior or graduate student in the accounting or related field in the upcoming academic year.  Have demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Have an expressed intent of pursuing a career in management accounting, financial management, or information technology.
  • Commit to sitting for at least one part of the CMA exam before the completion of their degree.
  • Previous winners are NOT eligible for this award. 

Submission Process

*All documents must be submitted in English.

The applicant will provide the following:

  • Complete online Scholarship application form by clicking HERE.  
  • Submit a one-page résumé, including (as appropriate) a summary of the applicant’s leadership activities, extracurricular activities (sports, clubs, and volunteer participation), and other information pertinent to the application.
  • Submit full academic transcript(s); unofficial copies are accepted.
  • One professor recommendation required: up to two accepted.
  • Recommendation should include applicant’s personal integrity, leadership skills, innovations, and principal strengths.
  • Applicant must answer two 300-500-word essay questions.

Selection of Award Winners

All candidates will be considered equally with no bias to race, creed, or background and will be judged independently based on the applicant’s ability to meet the criteria as outlined in this document. If, for some reason, a selected individual declines his/her award or becomes ineligible, an alternate candidate will be selected to receive the award. Two alternates will be selected if this circumstance takes place.

Decisions for the awarding of scholarships are based on:

1.      Academic merit

2.      Demonstrated leadership skills

3.      Quality of applicant’s application

4.      Strength of recommendations 

Disbursement/Post-Acceptance Requirements

The Century Scholarship winner(s) will receive their award in two installments of $3,750, and payment is contingent upon receipt of:

  • First payment: Proof of registration for fall 2024 semester
  • Second payment: Proof of registration for spring 2025 semester and a copy of the recipient’s fall 2024 transcript

REMINDER: Winner will be requested to sit for at least one part of the CMA exam before the completion of their degree.

Deadline for submisssions is March 29, 2024.
